Every now and again you're required to step outside of your comfort zone and do whatever it takes (within legal reason, of course) in order to achieve your goals. This was the case late last week while stumbling upon Iavarone Bros. Specialty Foods, or IB Foods, in the Queens burrough of NYC. With four locations—Wantagh, Maspeth, Huntington and New Hyde Park—Iavarone Bros. have been in operation since 1919. Iavarone Bros. prides itself on being Greater New York City's premier supplier of international and gourmet foods, of course with an emphasis on traditional Italian goods. Iavarone's palate-pleasing offerings include prime meats, freshly caught seafood, fresh produce and a variety of imported delicacies from around the world.
Now we're happy to announce that Iavarone Bros. have added one more Italian delicacy to its offering. We're not talking about a new pastry or rare breed of fish found deep in the Mediterranean sea, instead we're talking about the greatest holiday gift for Italians' and wannabe Italians' alike, Feast of the Seven Fishes. After walking into Iavarone's and pitching Mr. Joe Iavarone on the idea of selling the Eisner Award-nominated graphic novel in his stores, there was no way he could say no. However, Joe made us work for it by requiring us to supply his store with a book display. Having no such thing on hand, we were required to improvise. The product was a festive kiosk at the front of the store and, for our efforts, another stack of Feast of the Seven Fishes on the store's fish counter.
Cheers to doing whatever it takes!

How cool to find your blog! I am Italian (from Philly) and am doing everything possible to continue the traditions our heritage so richly blessed us with.
God bless your work!
