Joe Negri is perhaps best known for playing the part of Handyman Negri on Mister Rogers for over 30 years. And for those of us growing up near Pittsburgh, PA, he's also known for his work on-air and his behind-the-scenes musical direction for many years at WTAE Channel 4—especially as the replacement for legendary children's television host Paul Shannon on the latter's much-loved "Adventuretime." But it is in the world of jazz that Joe has perhaps left his most indelible mark. He is, quite simply, a marvelous artist with the guitar. We are so very fortunate that he has chosen to perform at the Feast of the Seven Fishes Festival in Fairmont, WV on December 8, 2007 from 3-5 p.m. (the festival is located on Monroe Street in downtown Fairmont). If you are in the area you simply have to check the man out. For more information you can visit his site: www.joenegri.com. And while you're at it, order a copy of his holiday CD, Guitars for Christmas. Just Jazz Guitar magazine recently selected this as one of the top six jazz guitar holiday CD's of all time. Hey—he's a nice Italian boy whose mellow sounds make the perfect soundtrack for a Christmas Eve fish feast.
